Junoon(i) at Purdue

Salman Ahmed, the lead guitarist of Junoon band came to perform at Purdue yesterday. The Pakistani rock band concert was organised by Indian students association at Purdue (probably coz there is no 'Pakistan student association'). As expected the show started according to IST. In fact I heard an American girl sitting behind me asking another guy what’s IST?? The show started with the song "Damadam Mast Calandar" (excuse me for not remembering the correct name), and the lots of people started dancing at the beats. Since the band was a Pakistani band so it had that hint of sufi music, and also some heavy metal. But soon after a couple of songs, it became a bit boring for me, and in fact most of the Indian guys, though Paki guys were still tapping and dancing (may be for the sheer fun of music). At that time I recalled the performance of Strings at IIT, though this one wasn't as bad, neither was there any anti-cheering. After some time he started telling the story about his first concert at India - 'how there were so many people collected at his home all with autograph books, which actually was to take autographs of Juhi, Salman and Aish, and when he actually reached Bombay, Juhi and Salman asked for his autograph.' And I was like what the fuck man!!! so long a story for one song. But when he started singing, the immediate response was that the story was worth it, coz the song then was "Sayonee". And there was the peak of the show. That melodious song made me dance standing at my seat, though very soon realising that I was the only one dancing at my seat (others dancing were at the front). After few more songs the program ended, and I was like OK!!! it wasn't too bad, and so was the response of most of my friends too.

Now the next thing is I've heard that Akshay Kumar might be there next week, Though not quite sure, but looking for it.
